Superfood Greens for Health! Bulk Green Powder Recipe Included

For those of you who have never heard of a Green Drink, I mention them often, so I’d better let you in. Anyone who has seen one, knows why they are called a green drink: they are green!
It is usually a drink which was blended in a blender and sported in a quart jar or glass container. It contains some if not all of the following (depending on how insane you are): spinach, kale, collards, Swiss chard, celery, lettuce blends, sprouts, other greens or any vegetable on earth, pineapple, banana, berries, flax seeds, and superfoods – such as hemp seed, chia seed, maca powder, coconut, cacao, goji berries and honey. Of course it would not be complete without a green powder containing ingredients like Sprirulina Blue-Green Algae, Chlorella Algae, sprouted Alfalfa Grass, sprouted Barley Grass juice, sprouted Wheat Grass juice, Purple Dulse Seaweed, Beet Root, Spinach Leaf, Rose Hips, Lemon Peel, Orange Peel, and NON-Active NON-Fortified Nutritional Yeast (Saccharomyces cervisiae). You get the picture, and believe it or not – they taste AMAZING!!!!

I call her the “Original” Green Smoothie Girl because let’s face it, there were not too many women in the 1950s making green drinks and requiring each of their children drink them before they left for school, except perhaps Margaret, mother of twelve! Margaret taught me all about green drinks when I met her at college. I have been hooked since. On the left is me, and although our family has sported green drinks for dozens of years, I am no competition for “Momma Bench” – I wasn’t even born in the 1950s – although I may have her beat with the number of green drinks made…having served countless thousands in the last ten years as I travel, giving lectures. With us is my friend Robyn Openshaw (right). Robyn is well-known as the “Green Smoothie Girl” around the globe, teaching thousands the benefits of those “crazy” green drinks. Many years ago now, a young man and his companion strolled through our country store and kept exclaiming “Wow!” “Look at this!” “They have this!” “They have that!” I finally walked over to see what all the excitement was about. That was the first day of a treasured friendship. This couple were herbalists. They had heard about a store in a small city with not even 400 residents, that people came to from hours away, so they came to find out what all the excitement was about.
The very first thing we spoke about on that summer day was greens. Why greens you may ask? Because they are powerhouses of superfoods! Spirulina blue-green algae, chlorella algae, alfalfa grass, sprouted barley grass juice, sprouted wheatgrass juice powder, spinach, purple dulse seaweed – these are just a few of the ingredients to look for in a green powder formula.

She mixed it with warm water and a high quality flavored flax or fish oil. That was it! I thought she was nuts until I tried it, and liked it! I add raw cacao powder, coconut milk and raw honey and it tastes like a warm chocolate drink (This does depend on what green power you use…) Our wellness centers have been recommending and using green powders over a decade, and have had incredible results.

Karen’s BULK Superhero Greens
- Organic Alfalfa Powder 2lb
- Organic Barley Grass Juice Powder 2lb (may be hard to find, still yummy without)
- Organic Spirulina 1lb
- Organic Chlorella 1lb
- Organic Maca (Puru) ½ - 1lb
- Organic Peppermint Powder ¾lb
- Organic Beet Root Powder ¼ -½ lb
I mix this up and store it in a cool place or the freezer.
Here's a great recipe using the superfoods green powder mix:
Each morning I mix together these seven things:
- 1-3 TB of Superhero Greens
- 1 TB+ Raw Cacao Powder
- 1 TB+ Organic raw Coconut Milk Powder
- 1-2 Tea. Lions Mane Powder
- 1-2 Tea. Ashwagandha Powder
- ½ tea. More Maca (opt.)
- Raw Honey to taste!
I add warm water, stir, and enjoy every DROP!
