Chakras is a Sanskrit word meaning, "wheels or disks of energy."

The Chakras are considered the center of life’s energy, also known as prana, shakti, or chi.  This energy flows along pathways called nadis. The Chakras “spin” or rotate drawing in Universal Life Force Energy, keeping the body in balance spiritually, mentally, emotionally and even physically. Literally we are spinning with energy –and giving it to others or sucking (or borrowing….that is a nicer name) energy from others…..

These Chakra centers are located on the midline of the body running north and south. Traditionally there are seven Chakras governing our psychological properties. The root chakra (the base chakra) deals with human instinct, and as you move through higher chakras they begin to be more and more about human emotional, mental, and ultimately spiritual dimensions.

When Chakras are "open," they are considered to be operating normally.  When they are “closed” they can shut up the organs, glands and areas of your life associated with them.

When closed, there could be memories buried from childhood trauma, abuse, a belief system, or hurtful emotions that have not been cleared. Tension can build up in the chakras. And over time, all Chakras and body arts are affected from our posture, poor metabolism, short breathing, and emotions. Disease in the body is often rooted in blocked pranic energy.  It’s time to release and let go!

In the movie Avatar, I love that the population, the Na'Vi, plugged in to Eywa (awa) - the mother tree, and as they did they all were able to receive guidance, heal and discern.  I like to think of our chakras as just that, portals that have the ability to become connected to a divine Source – and that Source can connect to us and fill us up with divine energy, guidance and healing!

Some believe there are seven chakras, others believe in nine or more.  I like to focus on the basic seven.  There are many ways to balance chakras.  An easy way to balance a chakra, is to imagine we are looking down at our bodies, or at another person.

Make a circular movement to the left (lefty loosy) to loosen the chakras and open them.  (This would be rotating our own hands above our chakra locations clockwise to the right.)  To tighten in or secure a thought or affirmation into a specific chakra, rotate the opposite way. This would be to the right (righty tighty) if we were working on another person, or to our left if we were laying down working on ourselves.

I just LOVE the chakra system!  I have balanced so many chakras I could never count.  The results have been amazing!  People who leave abusive relationships after years, find new jobs because they are now speaking their truth, become financially secure, fall in love and just plain increase their wellbeing by realizing they are electric! LOVE THOSE ATOMS!
