You have the passion and the foundational training â but you want to take your career even further.
Many coaches hit a ceiling: they struggle to stand out, build trust with clients, or find roles in clinics and health systems. Without the right credentials or confidence, growth can feel intimidating.
The NBHWC Credential Can Take Your Certification to a New Level. The NBHWC (National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching) is the leading accrediting body recognized by both the holistic healthcare field and the medical field. Those who complete the 80 hour training and pass the board exam can register for an NPI number, which adds them to a registry of US healthcare professionals. This credential can boost consumer and employer confidence in you, open doors to new opportunities, and deepen your skills in psychology, behavior change, and coaching science.
Why Add NBHWC to Your Holistic Health Training?
- Strengthen Your Practical Skillset â Advanced training in psychology, behavior change, and client-centered health coaching.
- Expand Your Opportunities â Qualify for roles in integrative and functional clinics, health systems, and corporate wellness programs who are looking for Nationally Board Certified Health & Wellness Coaches (NBC-HWC).
- Apply Advanced Coaching Tools â Learn evidence-based coaching techniques you can immediately use with clients, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.
- Qualify for an NPI Number â After passing the board exam, you can apply for a National Provider Identifier, a unique 10 digit identification number for US healthcare professionals. This can open doors for insurance reimbursement (by participating insurance companies), streamline FSA/HSA reimbursement, and increase your access to professional resources in accounts like Fullscript.
- Stand Out in the Field â Join a growing group of nationally certified coaches recognized by clinics, employers, and clients alike.
When you pair NBHWC training with your HHE Certificationâwhether it's Holistic Health Coach (HHC) or Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP)âyou gain a powerful edge in the industry. Â

Why did HHE choose to pursue the NBHWC program, and how is it different from HHE?
HHE's core curriculum focuses heavily on health sciences and holistic healthcare: anatomy and physiology, neurotransmitters and hormones, gut health, sleep, sun exposure, nutrition, mindset, and solutions to over 225 health conditions.
The NBHWC program focuses heavily on psychology, coaching, ethics, and professionalism. It covers some basic health information, but is mostly catered towards coaching in professional settings.Â
HHE intentionally avoided most government approved accreditations for 13 years. When NBHWC released their program content, we were pleasantly surprised by how well this would compliment HHE's core program, and decided to add it to our school. Together, HHE + NBHWC makes a powerful training combination.Â

What Do Former Students Have to Say?
âItâs been incredible, and has given me valuable knowledge and practice. I am a much more professional and valuable coach now. My energy is directed appropriately and efficiently and in a manner that is well-received by my clients. Our sessions are more powerful, they have âmore meat on their bonesâ than before NBHWC.â - Julie Ericson
âI thought it was about insurances... in the end, I could care less about that. I saw that we were able to utilize more of this Eastern philosophy and introduce it to the West.  I'm very happy I made the decision to enroll." - Jill Studacher
âMy eyes have been opened to a whole new level of being able to have a positive influence on people in such a unique way.
I didn't know this way of thinking and being was possible. I feel that this will change my life and relationships in so many positive ways, not only career wise, but personally.â
- Yolanda Degler
âI didnât expect how much this program would improve my communication with my family. Itâs almost like it was a communication skills course, not a health coach training. There is something really powerful about encouraging others autonomy and guiding and supporting them through their journey of achieving their goals!"
- Aimee Hammond

The National Board of Health and Wellness Coaching is a leading accrediting body that is recognized by both the medical and holistic healthcare fields. It is the only accreditation in the wellness field recognized by the National Board of Medical Examiners - the same board that give doctors their licenses. Those who complete the 80 hour training and then pass the board exam can register for an NPI number, which adds them to a registry of official US healthcare professionals.
Paired with HHE's Holistic Health Coach Certification, Therapeutic Nutritional Counselor Certification, or Holistic Health Practitioner Certification, this training combination truly sets graduates apart.
