Gift of the Butterfly

Fairies of insect world, freedom of light.

Fluttering silently, dance in daylight.

Colors adorned on powdery wings, spots, bands.

Shimmering spirals, loops, flit over lands of meadows, forests, gardens, seek nectar, water, nourishment, mate –a transformed avatar.

Alighting on branches, leaves, courting mate.

Laying eggs, begin transformation, incarnate.

Larva hatching, to caterpillar, shed of skin.

Molting, open, emerge pupa, changes within.

Metamorphosis of chrysalis, develop as adult.

Wings out, absorb sun’s heat, flight to exult.

Head, thorax, abdomen, in common with insect kin.

Six legs, large eyes, naturally with dainty wing.

Antenna for smell, balance, probosis drink straw, to extract water, minerals, salt from puddles draw.

To reach plant and flower nectar, sap of tree.

Rest on stone, sun bath, gather strength, energy.

By example of butterfly’s grand transformation, We awake from our dormancy of thought, action.

We have potential to grow, to embrace change, shedding some old, accepting new, life to rearrange.

A self-transformation, creativity, clarity of mind.

Welcome challenge with courage, New directions defined.
